The peer-reviewed open access journal Le foucaldien publishes interdisciplinary research along the lines of the philosopher and historian Michel Foucault (1926–1984) in English, German, and French. The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy credits Foucault with being "the author most frequently cited in the humanities" at the beginning of the 21st century, but his concepts are challenged in emerging fields such as media studies, digital humanities, post-colonialism, new materialism, and science and technology studies. Hence the main focus of Le foucaldien lies on updating and operationalizing Foucauldian approaches in preferably plain language.

The journal's publisher, the Open Library of Humanities (OLH), is a not-for-profit charity financed by an international consortium of academic institutions. Due to its non-commercial business model, the OLH does not charge any author fees. Le foucaldien's articles are peer-reviewed, published under a CC BY open access license, indexed in all major databases, and archived long-term in HTML, PDF, and XML. For details on the submission process, please check the author guidelines.

The journal is published as a continuous volume and issue throughout the year. Articles go online as soon as they are ready to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in getting knowledge publicly available. Special Collections are published as part of the normal issue, but also within separate webpages. Le foucaldien is edited by Maurice Erb, Simon Ganahl, and Patrick Kilian, who are assisted by Oriane Petteni and Sergej Seitz and supported by an editorial board of highly renowned scholars. For news around the activities of the journal, please visit us on the foucaultblog, follow us on Twitter, and like us on Facebook.

Georisk: Assessment and Management of Risk for Engineered Systems and Geohazards

ISSN: 1749-9518eISSN: 1749-9526

Free access to the top ten most downloaded articles in 2009 Free access to editorial 4:3 - Special issue on Risk Assessment in Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental PracticeFree access to editorial 4:1 - Special issue on Geotechnical Safety and Risk Part 2 (Limit-state Design Methodologies)Free access to editorial 3:3 - Special issue on Geotechnical Safety and Risk Part 1 (Geotechnical Risk) Free access to editorial 3:2 - Special issue on Geotechnical Reliability and Design CodesFree access to editorial 2:4 - Special Issue on Early Warning Systems: A Tool for the Mitigation of Risks Associated with Natural Hazards Free access to editorial 1:1 - Inaugural issue of GeoriskGeorisk covers many diversified but interlinked areas of active research and practice, such as geohazards (earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, rockfalls, tsunamis, etc.), safety of engineered systems (dams, buildings, offshore structures, lifelines, etc.), environmental risk, seismic risk, reliability-based design and code calibration, geostatistics, decision analyses, structural reliability, maintenance and life cycle performance, risk and vulnerability, hazard mapping, loss assessment (economic, social, environmental, etc.), GIS databases, remote sensing, and many other related disciplines. The underlying theme is that uncertainties associated with geomaterials (soils, rocks), geologic processes, and possible subsequent treatments, are usually large and complex and these uncertainties play an indispensable role in the risk assessment and management of engineered and natural systems. Significant theoretical and practical challenges remain on quantifying these uncertainties and developing defensible risk management methodologies that are acceptable to decision makers and stakeholders. The basic goal of this international peer-reviewed journal is to provide a multi-disciplinary scientific forum for cross fertilization of ideas between interested parties working on various aspects of georisk to advance the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice. Besides acting as a focused forum and promoting integration between disciplines, other key features of this journal include:Foster dissemination of information between research and practice.Encourage practice-oriented papers.Encourage papers reporting actual statistics with supporting databases.Include occasional educational papers that would enhance the knowledge and understanding of the non-specialist.Include cross-disciplinary papers that illustrate how to reduce societal risk, involving the input/collaboration of social scientists. In consultation with the editors, distinguished members of the georisk community may be invited to serve as guest editors covering focused themes such as natural hazards, dam safety, offshore safety, seismic risk, environmental risk, reliability-based design, geostatistics and probabilistic site characterization, probabilistic finite element methods, case histories, GIS databases, and other related topics. All published research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymous refereeing by independent expert referees.STARTaylor & Francis/Routledge are committed to the widest possible dissemination of its journals to non-profit institutions in developing countries. Our STAR initiative offers individual researchers in Africa, South Asia and many parts of South East Asia the opportunity to gain one month's free online access to 1,300 Taylor & Francis journals. Global Food Security

eISSN: 2211-9124

Elsevier is delighted to announce, that a new journal - Global Food Security- has launched in 2012.Motivation for Global Food Security arose from concern about the difficulty scientists and policy makers have in keeping up with the expanding volume of information about the challenge of meeting human food and nutritional needs while protecting environmental services. Hence, the Journal aims to provide readers with:1. Strategic views of experts from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives on prospects for ensuring food security, based on the best available science, in a clear and readable form for a wide audience, bridging the gap between biological, social and environmental sciences.2. Reviews, opinions and debates that synthesize, extend and critique research approaches and findings from the rapidly growing body of original publications on global food security.Global Food Security aims to publish papers that contribute to better understanding of economic, social, biophysical, technological, and institutional drivers of current and future global food security.Global Food Security aims to stimulate debate that is rooted in strong science, has strong interdisciplinary connections, and recognizes tradeoffs that occur in reconciling competing objectives and outcomes that may differ depending on spatial and temporal scale. While integration across academic disciplines is encouraged, papers on components of Global Food Security will also be considered if they address important constraints and have a broad inference space. The goal is to publish concise and timely reviews and synthesis articles about research on following elements of food security:• Availability (sufficient quantity and quality)• Access (affordability, functioning markets and policies)• Nutrition, Safety and Sanitation• Stability and Environment (resilience and ecosystem services)Distinguishing features of Global Food Security content are: (a)issues that contain several papers that address specific, timely topics of importance to food security, (b) authors who are recognized authorities in their field, (c) a focus on food security challenges in an interdisciplinary manner and at national to global scales, and (d) a focus on challenging current paradigms, seeking to provide out-of-the box thinking on global issues.Given this focus, Global Food Security will be an invaluable source of information for researchers, lecturers, teachers, students, professionals, policy makers and the international media.

Health Policy - The best evidence for better policies

ISSN: 0168-8510eISSN: 1872-6054

Health Policy is intended to be a vehicle for the exploration and discussion of health policy and health system issues and is aimed in particular at enhancing communication between health policy and system researchers, legislators, decision-makers and professionals concerned with developing, implementing, and analysing health policy, health systems and health care reforms, primarily in high-income countries outside the U.S.A.Health care policies and reforms are made at an ever-increasing pace in countries around the world - and policy-makers are increasingly looking to other countries for solutions to their own problems. Health Policy is committed to support this international dialogue to ensure that policies are not just copied but used and adapted based on the specific problems and objectives as well as the respective context. The journal encourages the submission of short, full-length, comparative and review articles (as well as groups of articles in "special sections") which address:1. What is happening in terms of policies, reforms, regulation etc. of health systems; 2. Where the ideas are coming from, i.e. whether they are "imported" from another country or developed within the country, and how innovative they are they in comparison to other countries;3. Why it is happening, e.g. as a consequence of a change in government, popular dissatisfaction or (perceived) unsustainable cost increases, and what are the objectives;4. The actors involved (both governmental as well as non-governmental), incl. their roles, their opinions and their strength in the decision and implementation process;5. Intended and, especially, unintended effects of these policies or reforms on the health system in terms of access, appropriateness, costs, effectiveness, quality, patient experience and equity etc.; and6. Their final consequences in terms of health outcomes, financial protection and responsiveness to the population's legitimate expectations, i.e. a performance assessment of reforms and health systems. To achieve the journal's objectives, authors are encouraged to write in a non-technical style, which is understandable to health policy practitioners and specialists from other disciplines and in other countries.Electronic usage:An increasing number of readers access the journal online via ScienceDirect, one of the world's most advanced web delivery systems for scientific, technical and medical information.Average monthly article downloads for this journal: 35,538* Figure is an average based on full text articles downloaded monthly via ScienceDirect between July 2010 and July 2011
