The mission of Journal of Operations Management is to publish original, high quality, operations management empirical research that will have a significant impact on OM theory and practice. Regular articles accepted for publication in JOM must have clear implications for operations managers based on one or more of a variety of rigorous research methodologies. The Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, founded by Francesco Pipino in the year 2000, is an official journal of the Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology. The Journal of Periodontal Research is an international research periodical the purpose of which is to publish original clinical and basic investigations and review articles concerned with every aspect of periodontology and related sciences. Brief communications (1-3 journal pages) are also accepted and a special effort is made to ensure their rapid publication. Reports of scientific meetings in periodontology and related fields are also published. One volume of six issues is published annually.

The Journal of Philosophical Logic aims to provide a forum for work at the crossroads of philosophy and logic, old and new, with contributions ranging from conceptual to technical.

Accordingly, the Journal invites papers in all of the traditional areas of philosophical logic, including but not limited to: various versions of modal, temporal, epistemic, and deontic logic: constructive logics: relevance and other sub-classical logics: many-valued logics: logics of conditionals: quantum logic: decision theory, inductive logic, logics of belief change, and formal epistemology: defeasible and nonmonotonic logics: formal philosophy of language: vagueness: and theories of truth and validity.

In addition to publishing papers on philosophical logic in this familiar sense of the term, the Journal also invites papers on extensions of logic to new areas of application, and on the philosophical issues to which these give rise. The Journal places a special emphasis on the applications of philosophical logic in other disciplines, not only in mathematics and the natural sciences but also, for example, in computer science, artificial intelligence, cognitive science, linguistics, jurisprudence, and the social sciences, such as economics, sociology, and political science.

Manuscript submissions to the JPL have grown rapidly over the past few years, putting tremendous pressure on the editors, the editorial board, and external referees.
 
In order to give JPL an opportunity to reorganize the editorial process to handle the increased volume, we have decided to suspend new submission between May 1 and October 1, 2013.  The JPL will continue with the current process for manuscripts that are currently under review.  In addition, if your paper has been 'conditionally accepted,' then please feel free to resubmit it in the usual way.  However,, if your paper has been given a verdict of 'revise and resubmit,' we ask that you not resubmit it until after October 1.We very much regret the difficulty caused by this decison to all authors of potential JPL articles, and hope that you will consider sending us your manuscripts again after October 1.  If you have any question about this moratorium, or about how it affects your paper, please feel free to write directly to Hans van Ditmarsch (hans.van-ditmarsch@loria.fr) or John Horty (horty@umd.edu).

The work of publishing houses like Freund Publishing house ltd, an Israel publishing house, is quite complicated. The editor chooses from the "manuscripts" submitted to the publishing house, previously published works, works published in other languages, or command works, works that fit the editorial line of its collections. After any corrections, it shall communicate the text to a printer in suitable technical characteristics of the book and the number of copies to print.The editor takes the bulk of the financial risks of publishing. The profits go mainly to the broadcaster and distributor of books, which are responsible, to canvass the booksellers and take their orders as well as routing the books to bookstores, to fill orders taken. These operations cost the publisher between 50 and 60% of turnover generated by the book. The rest of sales goes to the author (about 10% share of this figure much lower, around 6% for comic books, and can reach 20% or more for best sellers) and the publisher, who can pay, in addition to its employees (editorial assistants, press officers, charged with manufacture, designer, etc..), the entire work of the book (printers, proofreaders, freelance photographers, possibly librarians, etc.. ). The publisher who coordinates the course of the "book chain" and, often, which also establishes the financial plan incorporating the expected costs and expected gains, as in any business.

The Journal of Research on Christian Education (JRCE) provides a vehicle for the scholarly interchange of research findings relative to every level of Christian education. Particular emphasis is given to Christian schooling within the Protestant tradition as well as to research findings from other traditions which have implications for such schools. As the flagship publication for the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness, the Journal of Research on Educational Effectiveness (JREE) publishes original articles from a multidisciplinary community of researchers who are committed to applying principles of scientific inquiry to the study of educational problems. Articles published in JREE should advance our knowledge of factors important for educational success and/or improve our ability to conduct further disciplined studies of pressing educational problems. JREE welcomes manuscripts that fit into one of the following categories: 1) interventions and evaluation studies, and 2) methodological studies. The first category includes studies that focus on process and implementation and seek to demonstrate causal claims in educational research. To establish a stronger connection between scientific evidence and educational practice, studies submitted to JREE should focus on pressing problems found in classrooms and schools. Studies that help advance our understanding and demonstrate effectiveness related to challenges in reading, mathematics education, and science education are especially welcome as are studies related to cognitive functions, social processes, organizational factors, and cultural features that mediate and/or moderate critical educational outcomes. On occasion, invited responses to JREE articles and rejoinders to those responses will be included in an issue. The Journal of Risk and Financial Management (JRFM) was formerly edited by Prof. Dr. Raymond Cox and published by Prof. Dr. Alan Wong in print (ISSN 1911-8066 for print edition) and online (ISSN 1911-8074 for electronic edition) in one yearly volume from 2008 until end 2012. MDPI has taken over the publication of this title on 1 October 2013. Articles published prior to 1 October 2013 on www.jrfm.us have been transferred onto the MDPI platform and left unchanged. MDPI will continue to publish the online edition only.

Certainly, school choice is seeing growing attention as a key ingredient of reform strategies, and also as an arena in which to compare political accountability to market accountability. The Journal of School Choice will be interdisciplinary and international. Along with empirical analysis of school choice aspects of public policies, the Journal of School Choice will publish peer-reviewed scholarly objective commentary, advocacy, and policy critique. For this journal, that is especially important to my 'Moving Forward' motto. For many of the twelve types of school choice policies, including many that seem likely to have the largest impacts, there is no direct evidence to analyze. Where direct evidence is scarce, scholarly commentary utilizing accepted theory, core principles, and indirect evidence, is the only way to develop insights and increase understanding of likely policy outcomes. The peer reviewed objective commentary, advocacy, and critique pieces I envision are not opinion pieces per se. I view them as heavily referenced exercises in transparent deduction. Of course, scholars will differ in where theory, core principles, alleged evidence, and values lead. The Journal of School Choice will improve understanding of those differences. Scholars have opinions, and learning the basis of them is very insightful.Part of my vision is an active, diverse editorial board. They are part of the review process.
