Journal Guide

The Journal of Spanish Language Teaching is a new peer-reviewed journal that provides an international forum for innovative research, methods, materials and theories on the teaching and learning of Spanish as a foreign language. The Journal's main purpose is to create a dialogue between researchers and practitioners worldwide in order to enrich a discipline that is experiencing tremendous growth. The Journal invites contributions from researchers working on topics related to the teaching and learning of the Spanish language at any educational level and in any setting.

The Journal will publish original research papers as well as book reviews. Periodically, it will also consider monographic issues and critical surveys of recent research related to a specific sub-discipline or geographical area. A thorough peer review process will be applied to both commissioned and unsolicited articles. The Journal of Spanish Language Teaching will constitute an essential journal of reference in the field. There is currently no other academic publication dedicated solely to the teaching and learning of Spanish, which exists in both print and electronic formats, and is global in its reach. Targeted at both academics and practitioners, the Journal aims to have a major impact on the discipline.

The Journal of Spatial Science publishes original peer review Research and Review Papers contributing to the theory and practice of the spatial sciences. The Journal also publishes Professional Papers that describe aspects of professional practise and implementation of techniques related to cartography, geodesy, geographic information science, hydrography, photogrammetry, remote sensing or surveying.

publishes research into the theory and application of spectroscopy across all disciplines, including biology, chemistry, engineering, earth sciences, medicine, materials science, physics, and space science.

The Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research (JSLHR) annually publishes summary statistics of acceptance/rejection rates and manuscript processing times. These summary statistics provide data on acceptance/rejection rates, frequently used by tenure/promotion committees, as well as average manuscript processing times, often of interest to contributing authors.Table 1 shows the rates for acceptance and rejection for manuscripts receiving a final decision in 2008 through 2010, regardless of the year the manuscript was submitted originally. The Speech, Language, and Hearing sections of the journal are reported separately. Accepted manuscripts are those for which a final decision to accept has been made. Rejected manuscripts are those that have been judged unsuitable for publication and for which no further revision or resubmission has been requested.Figure 1 presents data for manuscripts that had completed the review process as of year-end 2010. The submission-to-decision interval is calculated from the date the editor's office receives the new or revised manuscript to the date a decision is made on the manuscript.

The Journal of Spirituality in Mental Health is an interdisciplinary professional journal (retiled from American Journal of Pastoral Counseling to better reflect its broader scope) that is devoted to the scholarly study of spirituality as a resource for counseling and psychotherapeutic disciplines. This peer-reviewed quarterly journal seeks to enhance the understanding of spirituality as a core component of human well-being in individual, relational, and communal life. Leading authorities provide insights into research and effective therapy in an interdisciplinary dialog that crosses the disciplines of psychology, spirituality, theology, sociology, cultural analysis, and other fields. The Journal of Spirituality in Mental Health is a crucial forum that provides deeper insight into human meaning-making within therapeutic and growth-fostering activity. The primary spiritual experience is explored as it occurs either for practitioners or clients, with an examination of therapeutic meanings. Expert contributors explore the impact of cultural life patterns within issues of race and gender, ethnicity, sexuality, and relational structures as they contribute to both human wholeness, and to its loss and therapeutic recovery. This journal is challenging, inspirational, and superbly beneficial to all who desire perspectives and ideas extending beyond their own scope and field of focus. View a list of the latest free articles available from Journal of Sport & Tourism The Journal of Sport & Tourism (JS&T) is a multidisciplinary publication featuring high quality articles on all aspects of the relationship between sport and tourism. It welcomes submissions from all relevant subject areas, such as sport, leisure, physical education and tourism, and from a wide range of disciplines including, but not confined to: sociology, psychology, geography, policy studies, management studies, economics and marketing. Submissions may be empirical or conceptual, but should have a clearly articulated theoretical basis. JS&T takes an inclusive and wide-ranging view of the definitions of both sport and tourism, and therefore considers professional and amateur, competitive and non-competitive, social, recreational, and informal activities, as well as leisure, business, and day-trip tourism, to fall within its scope. The journal is interested in tourism incorporating any form of sporting interest, not just tourism to actively participate in sport. Consequently, manuscripts relating to tourism where sport is a subsidiary interest or activity are as appropriate for submission to JS&T as manuscripts relating to tourism where sport is the prime purpose. JS&T also covers wider aspects of the relationship between sport and tourism, such as policy partnerships between sport and tourism agencies or the role of tourism in sports development, and is interested in manuscripts that bring perspectives traditionally associated with the tourism area to the study of sport, and vice-versa. All manuscripts published in JS&T are double-blind peer reviewed by accomplished scholars in the subject/topic area of the manuscript and in the disciplinary or methodological approach used. The standard for publication in JS&T is that the paper must make a clear contribution substantively, theoretically or methodologically, to the body of knowledge relating to the relationship between sport and tourism. Peer Review Statement As noted above, all research articles in JS&T undergo a rigorous peer review process. This involves initial screening by the Editor and an Assistant Editor prior to double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers. As such, all research articles published in JS&T have been scrutinised by at least four scholars working in the field. Research Notes published in JS&T are subject to the same peer review process as full research articles. The Journal of Sport Management encourages the submission of manuscripts in a number of areas as they relate to the management, governance, and consumption of sport such as: organizational theory, behavior, and strategy; sport operations; law and policy; economics, finance, and accounting; marketing, consumer behavior, sponsorship, advertising, and licensing; media, communications, and public relations; sport tourism; facility and event management; and gender and diversity. Studies using quantitative and/or qualitative approaches are welcomed.The Journal of Sport Management publishes research and scholarly review articles; short reports on replications, test development, and data reanalysis (Research Notes); editorials that focus on significant issues pertaining to sport management (Sport Management Perspectives); articles aimed at strengthening the link between sport management theory and sport management practice (From the Field); journal abstracts (Sport Management Digest); book reviews (Off the Press); and news items of interest to professionals in sport management (Management Memos).

The Journal of Sport Psychology in Action is an official publication of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, and is a refereed journal, designed to promote the application of scientific knowledge to the practice of sport, exercise, and health psychology. Topics covered in this journal include interdisciplinary work 8212; drawing from the fields of exercise physiology, sport science, and health psychology 8212; that target knowledge and application for professionals and practitioners. The journal differs from other sport and exercise psychology journals because of the target audience and style of writing. The Journal of Sport Psychology in Action is written for practitioners, coaches, athletes, and individuals from various sport organizations.

The editorial mission of the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation (JSR) is to advance the understanding of all aspects of sport rehabilitation, particularly in the areas of therapeutic exercise, therapeutic modalities, injury evaluation, and the psychological aspects of rehabilitation. JSR publishes original research, systematic reviews/meta-analyses, critically appraised topics (CATs), and case studies/series that directly affect the management and rehabilitation of injuries incurred during sport-related activities, irrespective of the individual’s age, gender, sport ability, level of fitness, or health status. The journal is intended to provide an international, multidisciplinary forum to serve the needs of all members of the sports medicine team, including athletic trainers/therapists, sport physical therapists/physiotherapists, sports medicine physicians, and other health care and medical professionals.
